European Law School
Learn about European and international law as well as the legal systems from different EU Member States
Learning how to present, moot and plead a case ensures that you gain the skills to work as a legal professional at a regional, national and international level, both in the private sector as well as in government. Small-scale and personal education marks this programme. In the first year of your studies you will have your own mentor to coach you.
The European Law School’s bachelor’s programme is taught at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Law. The faculty’s main building is located in the heart of the historic city of Maastricht.
UM Faculty of Law ranks among the 10 best European law faculties in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for LAW (Times Higher Education Law 2020). Moreover, Maastricht University is in sixth place in the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) ‘Young Universities’ ranking for best young universities in the world.
Are you an inquisitive type of person, with a strong analytical mind and an international outlook? And can you envisage yourself solving complex legal issues? If so, this programme may be right for you.
What will you learn when you decide to become a European Law School student in Maastricht?
“The starting point is comparative law”, says professor Bram Akkerman. “And we also teach you ‘essential 21st-century legal skills’.” Prof. Akkerman and European Law School student Petros Korelas explain what these are in the following video.
Take over the controls and start your own tour of the Faculty of Law.
With further training, which is also offered, you can also gain access to regulated professions such as a lawyer, public prosecutor or judge. Learn more about the programme at UM.
